about

Everything anyone has ever believed is true: Glutton’s progressive rock enters the cartoon multiverse of Ontonauts

“The Tomb of the Unknown Ontonaut” is the second single from Glutton’s upcoming album Eating Music. The song is the result of a collaboration with Lars Schwed Nygård, the creator of the comic book series Ontonauts. Here, everything anyone has ever believed is true, but each belief is true only in its own separate reality.

The story's hero is a chaos magician called Starcrow, who in search of her abducted lover must travel to a reality where the world's governments are controlled by a conspiracy of space aliens.

The exotic touch of the comics and Starcrows desperate quest resonate in the desert rock harmonics of the song, supported by a brass section and Trond Gjellum (Panzerpappa, Suburban Savages) on synth and percussion. «The Tomb of the Unknown Ontonaut» unfolds as a world in its own right in the Glutton’s musical universe of jazz rock, desert blues and psychedelic rock.

lyrics

The Tomb of the Unknown Ontonaut

My throne's borne on Pentagram's wing
My magic on words that I sing
My name is a bell to unring
And were I a man, I'd be king

Beliefs I’ve held, I have seen
Then discarded, unlike you, Justine
But peril to you I've foreseen
And were I king, you'd be queen

The city's oppression's now real
Beneath clouds of alien steel
But this human's not here to kneel
Grey flesh yields under my heel

A story I’m told, one of doom
Of you, what they placed in your womb
I leave it for dogs to consume
Justine, there's no name on your tomb

Unknown but to the Mothership
to the Now
Unknown but to the vast machine
to the Sun
Unknown but to the Silvermind
to the Tree

Running to the front door and drawing upon it a rune
A sigil of saucers, spacefarers' secrets, my tune
Step 'cross the threshold, then lo and then behold, it's true
